Key Club, a student-led organization, empowers its members to lead and serve through the cultivation of leadership skills, development of friendships, and performance of service in their communities. Key Club members demonstrate a passion for helping others and develop excellent leadership skills they carry with them for a lifetime. In other words, Key Club is one of the avenues by which students at Lincoln College Prep mature into valuable assets for our community by serving within the community themselves. With a general membership of over 100 members, everyone has the opportunity to serve!
Currently, students are participating in a drive called “Teens for Jeans” to collect gently worn jeans for youth in the community and around the country.
Six Key Club members volunteer at Amethyst Place at 2732 Troost, an organization to provide safe and supportive housing to women and their children recovering from alcohol and other drug addiction.
Five Saturdays have been set aside from now until April for highway clean-up where ten, some days more, Key Club members will be on a mission to clean up Kansas City with the local chapter of Kiwanis International.
Furthermore, Lincoln College Prep Key Club was recently selected to receive $450.00 as a project grant from Kiwanis International in Indianapolis, IN. The grant, which was written by LCPA Key Club President Desirae Morrow, will be used to fund a project to reach out to the families of victims in Joplin, Missouri.
