Trailwoods is proud to be the first Leader In Me school in the Kansas City Public School District. We are committed to 21st-century teaching and learning as we strive to produce world-class leaders. We provide a strong and challenging curriculum with a particular emphasis on reading, science, and math. We believe that every student has the ability to be a leader, and our school environment nurtures and supports their leadership abilities. Trailwoods Elementary School serves approximately 400 students from diverse backgrounds from Kindergarten to 6th grade.

Principal: Christy Harrison
Christy Harrison is the principal of Trailwoods Elementary School. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Central Missouri State University and her Master's and Specialist of Education in Administration from William Woods University. Mrs. Harrison recently returned to the Kansas City area from Rockford, Illinois where she served as vice principal in an elementary school. She has been in education for 11 years, six in the classroom as a 3rd and 5th-grade teacher and five as an administrator.
Mrs. Harrison believes strongly in the concept of lifelong learning and ensuring that every student receives the highest quality education. She is committed to ensuring that students leave Trailwoods with the academic, social and emotional skills necessary to succeed in life.
