Local Investment Commission
Local Investment Commission LINC a quality before and after school care with experienced staff members and nutritional meals. This program includes academic instruction in math and reading as well as homework assistance. LINC also assists our school with many things, from making beautiful flyers to sponsoring Girls and Boys Night Out. If you check out their new website you will see some of the great things LINC is doing in Kansas City area schools. 
 
D.A.R.E
What is D.A.R.E.? Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) is led by one of Kansas City's police officers. It is series of classroom lessons taught in the fifth grade. D.A.R.E. teaches students good decision making skills to help them "avoid high-risk behavior to ensure they grow up healthy, safe and secure."  School Partnerships
We have several business and educational partners here at George Melcher Elementary. Among them are Friendship Baptist Church, Home Depot (Linwood), Costco (Linwood), Twinkling Star Sisters #196, Van Brunt McDonald's, PAL Program (Police Athletic League), Vineyard Gardens Home Owners Association, K.C. Community Gardens, American Forestry Foundations/Learn and Serve/Green Schools Program, and UMKC Eating from the Garden Program.
