What is LINC? The Local Investment Commission (LINC) is a Kansas City non-profit focused on making improvements to our communities through citizen-led efforts. One effort is Caring Communities, which focuses on creating community schools. In these schools, an integrated focus on academics and family support, health and social services, and youth and community development lead to improved student learning, stronger families, and healthier communities. Community-based organizations or public institutions often work as lead agencies in community schools, helping to mobilize community assets and support student success.
LINC offers the following after school programs:

Supplemental Educational Services (SES) are tutoring sessions offered outside the regular school day - usually before or after school, on weekends, or in the summer to help students improve reading and mathematics skills. Students are eligible if they receive free or reduced lunch and attend a Title I school that has not made Adequate Yearly Progress on the same subject for two or more years. SES providers are companies or organizations that are approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education to offer services to your child. KCPS will pay for the tutoring. Each child will receive an average of 40 to 60 hours of tutoring during the school year. There is no cost to parents for these services. Transportation is not provided by the KCPS. Applications were distributed early in the school year and were due September 30th.
Congratulations to the 2012-2013 Holliday Elementary School Student Council! Nominated and elected by their Upper Elementary peers for being respectful, responsible, kind, cooperative, and polite. The Holliday Student Council is a vital part of our school. They have volunteered for numerous projects around the school and truly express a desire to serve and be role models for their peers. Our Student Council sponsor is Caren Krutsinger, the school counselor. She can be reached at (816) 418-1950.
