Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers for Achievement logo Thank you for your interest in volunteering for KCPS in support of student achievement and our efforts to regain accreditation.
The Kansas City Public Schools is committed to providing a safe environment for students to learn. The district requires all prospective volunteers to undergo a criminal background check. Except as allowed by law, the district will only use this information for internal purposes.
Please follow these three easy steps to register as a volunteer with the Kansas City Public Schools:
  1. Register with the Family Care Safety Registry online. KCPS will cover the cost of the registration and background check fee when the completed application is sent to our offices for processing. No refunds will be provided. (Stuck? Click here for instructions.)
  2. Complete a Volunteer Application and return it to
    Volunteers for Achievement
    2901 Troost Ave., Office 208
    Kansas City, MO 64109
  3. Wait for notification of approval from Kansas City Public Schools.
